Glucosamine

Glucosamine is a key glycosaminoglycan and glycoprotein and is found commonly in joint tissue. Glucosamine is one of the most abundant monosaccharides found in the body and it functions as an anti-inflammatory agent by potentially inhibiting inflammatory enzymes as well as stimulating chondrocytes (cartilage forming cells).  Glucosamine is typically supplemented as glucosamine sulfate potassium, glucosamine hydrochloride or N-acetyl glucosamine.  Glucosamine as sulfate potassium is the glucosamine most researched and most involved in clinical trials.  Field Partner incorporates Glucosamine as sulfate potassium for this reason.  Because of glucosamines natural abundance in cartilage and connective tissues, it can be harvested via animal cartilage in the meat processing industry.  It can also be obtained through shellfish, hydrolysis of shellfish and also by fermentation of grains.
